Alvia Asset Partners strengthens private markets capability with key partner appointment

10 February, 2025

Alvia Asset Partners (Alvia) today announced the appointment of David Browne to the role of Partner within its Private Capital arm. This strategic hire reflects Alvia’s commitment to expanding its private equity style investment offerings for clients in Australia.

Based in Alvia’s Sydney office, David will lead the Private Capital (PC) business, spearheading new private equity style opportunities, and will join the Alvia PC Investment Committee.

David is a seasoned private equity professional with over 14 years’ experience in mid-market private equity and a strong track record of realised returns and driving value creation. He has successfully led transactions from origination to exit across a range of industries. Prior to joining Alvia, David held investing roles with private equity firms Next Capital and Catalyst Investment Managers.

With Alvia Private Capital, David will focus on lower mid-market investment opportunities, seeking to partner with established founder and family led companies demonstrating strong resilience and attractive growth potential. The target EBIT range at investment is $5m-$12m.

This appointment is supported by recent growth in Alvia’s private capital business and the Australian private capital market more broadly. Over the past four years, assets under management (AUM) in Australia-focused private capital have doubled, reflecting strong investor demand. As of June 2023, private equity remains the second-largest private capital asset class, with AUM rising to $45.5 billion from $41.5 billion in December 2022.

According to Nathan Robertson, Alvia CEO, “We are delighted to welcome David to our team. His expertise will add significant breadth and depth to our existing private markets capabilities as Alvia continues to grow. Private capital is a key strategic priority for our business moving into 2025, and David is well-positioned to support our efforts in this area.”

“This appointment comes at a pivotal time of expansion in Australia’s private market sector, and Alvia is committed to offering the highest quality investment opportunities to our clients. David’s strong track record make him an extremely valuable addition to our team,” Nathan added.

On his new role, David commented: “I am thrilled to be joining the Alvia team during such a dynamic time of growth in the private capital market. I am looking forward to leveraging Alvia’s unique capabilities and investment philosophy to deliver meaningful value for both our clients, and our investee companies.”

David’s appointment is part of Alvia’s broader strategy to expanding its investment resources. It follows the recent addition of Mitchell Simmons as Research Analyst from Pinnacle Investment Management and the promotion of Daniel Martin to Senior Investment Analyst, underscoring the firm’s strategic focus on growth and innovation.
