As Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Alvia Asset Partners, Josh leads the firm’s investment strategy and philosophy, focused on delivering strong absolute outcomes through disciplined, high-conviction investing. He is known for his measured approach, strong alignment with clients, and a consistent focus on long-term value creation.

Josh has more than two decades of experience across public and private markets. Prior to founding Alvia, he established and led the investment function at Keystone Private. Earlier in his career, he was Head of Private Clients at Dalton Nicol Reid and held roles at Macquarie, Goldman Sachs JBWere and ANZ Private, advising high-net-worth individuals and families on portfolio construction and capital allocation.

Josh has been a founder and investor across multiple industry sectors, and has been actively involved in building, scaling and successfully exiting businesses. This experience informs a practical, real-world approach to investing.

At Alvia, he has applied these learnings to build genuinely differentiated portfolios across multiple asset classes, combining liquid investments with selectively sourced private market opportunities where they are truly value additive. This integrated approach challenges the traditional wealth management model and is underpinned by strong alignment, with the firm and its principals investing alongside clients.

Josh has developed a strong track record in private markets, including originating, structuring and managing investments across operating businesses, healthcare and real assets. He currently serves on a number of private company boards, contributing to strategy, governance and capital management.

Josh holds a Bachelor of Economics (Finance), a Master of Applied Finance, a Diploma in Financial Services, a Certificate in Value Investing from Columbia University, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Melbourne Business School.

Nathan is Chief Executive Officer of Alvia and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He leads Alvia’s strategic direction and long-term growth, with a focus on building a client-aligned investment business.

He brings more than two decades of experience across investment management, wealth management and capital raising in both public and private markets. Before joining Alvia, Nathan was a Director at UBS, where he led wholesale asset consultant relationships and managed national key accounts across private banks, family offices and wealth management firms.

Earlier in his career, Nathan worked at Colonial First State, now First Sentier Investors, and represented a range of global investment managers across multiple asset classes, including Acadian Asset Management (Boston), Aspect Capital (London), Generation Investment Management (London), Realindex Investments (Sydney) and Sanlam Global Investment Solutions (Cape Town). He began his career in wealth management at the Commonwealth Bank.

Nathan holds a Bachelor of Business with double majors in Economics and Banking & Finance, an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning), and has been awarded the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation.

As a Director and Investment Committee member, Eddie leads the management of the operational and financial aspects of the Alvia business.

He has a can-do attitude and dedication to delivering a dynamic business and continuous improvement approach.

Eddie has over 20 years’ experience across financial services and commercial roles, and with valuable experience in a range of C-suite positions across a number of industries. Most recently he has established and run an independent CFO advisory business and partnered with a range of clients to support their business growth in niche markets.

Eddie continues to be an active investor and advisor across property, health and tourism related ventures, where he brings experience and understanding to specific financial and operational challenges and strategies.

As a life-long learner, Eddie has completed a range of studies including a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from The University of Queensland. After graduation Eddie completed the CFA Charter, and has participated in a number of Executive Education courses at both Harvard Business School and the UQ Business School.

Outside of his professional interests, Eddie is active in a number of sports and passionate about coaching and mentoring youth sporting teams, which complete a busy life with his four young children.

David leads Alvia’s Private Capital business (‘APC’) and is a member of the APC Investment Committee. APC focuses on lower mid-market investment opportunities, partnering with established founder and family-led companies demonstrating strong resilience and attractive growth potential.

David has been active in Australian mid-market private equity for 15 years and has successfully led transactions from origination to exit across a range of industries. Prior to joining Alvia, David held investing roles with Next Capital and Catalyst Investment Managers.

David’s experience includes investments in the following companies, of which he was also a non executive director:

Country Care Group (healthcare assistive technology); Noisette (artisanal commercial baked goods); Silver Chef (hospitality equipment leasing), TMX (supply chain consulting); and Global TV (outdoor broadcast equipment).

David has further investing experience in the retail, media services and transportation sectors.

David began his career in investment banking at Macquarie Group and has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the Australian National University.

James is an Investment Director at Alvia Asset Partners and a member of the Investment Committee, focused on lower mid-market private equity investments in partnership with family-owned and founder-led businesses exhibiting niche and defensive growth characteristics.

He has over 10 years’ investment management experience across public and private markets, with exposure to both debt and equity. James brings a diverse skill set and a differentiated perspective to private capital, combining public market discipline with a pragmatic approach to building and growing privately owned businesses. James prides himself on the relationships he builds, showing a genuine care for clients and their businesses.

His experience spans multiple asset classes and sectors, enabling a flexible and long-term investing approach across varying market conditions. He is currently a Board Observer for Pure Environmental (regulated waste management), Envoi (Specialist Pathologists), Altimate Foods (food manufacturing) and The Automotive Group (distribution and sales).

James has previously invested across the financial services, recycling, medical services, medical equipment, technology, property/real assets and mining/energy sectors.

James began his career in a multi family office where he helped build and create an investment management business aimed at servicing HNWs and FO clients, today known as Alvia.

James holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland.

As a Portfolio Manager, Chris leads the analysis and portfolio management for Alvia’s Australian, international and listed property equities investments, whilst supporting the analysis of alternatives, fixed income and private investment opportunities.

Chris’ passion for investing started back in early high school, when he made his first share investment from money saved from his part time job.

Chris has over 15 years’ experience working in professional services, corporate and funds management roles in Australia and the United Kingdom. Prior to joining Alvia, Chris worked as an investment analyst at Hyperion Asset Management, a Brisbane-based equities fund manager, covering the research of Australian and international equities.

Chris’ experience across two countries and several roles and industries, most recently in funds management, has assisted in the development of the Alvia Investment Philosophy and portfolio management process.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) degree from The University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance (Corporate Finance/Advisory) from Kaplan Professional. Chris is a CFA Charterholder.

Chris enjoys the fundamental research and valuation of companies, which are core to Alvia’s High Conviction Investment Philosophy.

As a Portfolio Manager, Daniel leads international equities and alternatives asset classes, whilst supporting the Chief Investment Officer across the broader investment remit. Daniel has an inherent drive to focus on the detail and understand companies at a deeper level, beyond their share price and key metrics.

Having studied the Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics (Honours) degree at the University of Queensland, Daniel has a strong financial academic background to complement his ever-growing experience. Daniel is a CFA Charterholder.

As an Investment Analyst, Mitch brings a strong foundation in financial analysis and investment research with an enthusiasm for client relationships. He holds a Bachelor of Actuarial Science, earned under an Excellence scholarship, and is a CFA Charterholder, reflecting his commitment to financial analysis and professional development.

Prior to Alvia, Mitch gained valuable experience at Pinnacle Investment Management, contributing to investment solutions, and Youi Insurance, where he honed his risk management skills. His background equips him with a sophisticated understanding of both actuarial and investment sectors, making him a valuable asset in providing insightful research for capital allocation.

As Client Services Manager, Holly is committed to delivering exceptional service outcomes for Alvia’s clients. She brings extensive experience across wealth management and investment management, having led client service strategy and delivery at Dalton Nicol Reid. In this role, she strengthened client engagement frameworks, enhanced operational processes, and ensured consistently high service standards.

Prior to joining Alvia, Holly held a senior management role within the education and training sector, responsible for leading a team and growing the Queensland division of a large Registered Training Organisation. Her diverse background spans multiple industries, equipping her with a unique and highly transferable skill set grounded in strong management capability, stakeholder engagement and operational execution.

Holly holds a Bachelor of Business Management and a Bachelor of Psychology from The University of Queensland, as well as a Diploma of Financial Services.

As Client Services Officer, Heather is dedicated to delivering positive and seamless service experiences for both current and prospective clients. With a strong background in operational processing and stakeholder management, Heather plays an integral role across Client Onboarding, Reporting, and Data Management processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and continuous collaboration.

Heather achieved a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Business Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, UK, and has completed Level 3 (Introduction to Securities and Investment) from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI).

Prior to Alvia, Heather spent over 4 years working in Glasgow, UK, for Morgan Stanley within their Global Prime Brokerage Operations division, where she served as primary point of contact for client’s International Equities and Fixed Income-related trade queries.

Jim is Chair of Alvia’s Investment Committee, where he plays a key role in overseeing investment decisions and supporting the firm’s investment governance processes.

He was previously State Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of Global Multi-Assets at QIC, where he managed portfolios across a range of asset classes. Prior to QIC, Jim spent 6 years transforming Telstra Super as their Chief Investment Officer.

Jim’s institutional background and independent perspective add meaningful challenge and depth to our investment process.

Matthew is a member of Alvia’s Investment Committee, where he provides independent oversight and regularly engages with the investment team to review and challenge the firm’s investment strategy.

He is the Principal of Millers Point Company, an advisory firm focused on growth and turnaround investments. Matthew was previously a Co-founder of Diversa Ltd, an investment manager and superannuation platform business, and held roles as a venture capital investor at QIC and investment committee member across various venture capital and growth equity funds.

Matthew currently serves as a Director of Infratech Growth Partners, Logicamms Ltd (ASX:LCM), Total Brain Ltd (ASX:TTB), Leaf Resources Ltd (ASX:LER) and Think Mobility.
